61. AJA DANG: DISCOVERING YOUR PASSIONS, CREATING YOUR BEST SELF, KEEPIN IT REAL ON SOCIAL MEDIA + IN LIFE.

AJA DANG is an American TV host turned lifestyle blogger who has a genuine passion for supporting others to become their best selves. 

Aja comes from a background in Broadcast Journalism of over 13 years. She worked with major companies such as Fox, the NFL Network, Maxim Magazine and the Hollywood Reporter.

It’s not easy to depart from a secure career life like that and dive into the very uncertain and highly competitive arena of Social Media as an Influencer but Aja pulled it off both successfully with over 800,000+ in her growing community AND she’s done it staying true to herself and her passions.

 She channels the knowledge and experience she gained from those earlier chapters of career life and infuses it all with her love for natural beauty and self growth- all of which create the killer content in her YouTube videos.  

Aja and I met at a beauty event for Burts Bees a few years ago and we immediately hit it off.  There were a lot of commonalities between us, our passion for natural beauty, wellness, Hawaii being homes to us both but the dominating connection above all was that we both knew we were exchanging with someone who is truly being their authentic self. 

What I love about Aja in addition to how she keeps it so real and especially as a Social Media Influencer, is that the content she creates is legitimately valuable and fun to absorb.  She is quirky, funny, smart, sexy and she cares about the ways at which she can support her community to truly create a life they love, that feels great and is true to who they really are.

58. SOLOSODE: "SPRING CLEANING " TECHNIQUE FOR MORE CLARITY + EFFECTIVENESS IN YOUR PERFORMANCE TO ACHIEVE + ACCOMPLISH YOUR GOALS.

I love Spring.

It’s all about refreshing life + new beginnings.

It’s also the 3rd month into the year and I work in 3 month sprints throughout the year, taking a break at the end of each sprint to evaluate progress made towards the goals that were made at the start of each sprint + how things FEEL in all the major pillars of life:

  • Self: health/fitness/interconnection goals

  • Relationships: partners + friendships

  • Business

  • Home life

  • Finances

I utilize this technique from a NON judgemental approach to learn + to measure where I am in relation to where I want to be via my ideals, goals + set visions within all of these major pillars.

It’s very supportive to give you more clarity which furthers your ability to be more effective with your performance on the pursuit to actualize your goals/visions within each of these Life Pillars.

AND it’s a very valuable tool to assess your dominating emotional state that you’ve been living from throughout your process which is just as important as achieving/accomplishing your goals.

Personally, I rely on this technique + utilize it 4 times through the year to continue making inner + external advancements. And it works.

I believe that TRUE wealth + success in life means we are nourishing, investing, fortifying and expanding in BOTH intrinsic via the intangibles + extrinsic via the tangibles. In other words:

I want it ALL- don’t you? :)

51. MIKE SAFFAIE: LEANING INTO RESILIENCY, SEEKING CHALLENGE FOR GROWTH, EMPLOYING SHORT TERM GOALS VS RESOLUTIONS + EXPOSING YOURSELF UNDER STRESS.

Mike Saffaie is an elite + highly revered Strength & Conditioning coach to high performing athletes with some names under his resume such as, UFC fighters Cara Esparza, Anderson Silva, Ferbricio Werdum, + Brain
”T-City” Ortega to name a few. In addition to training pro atheltes, he’s been an award winning private trainer for over two decades now.

His unique approach to training stems from the mental landscape of an engineer. He designs all of his training methods from a methodical and intelligent strategies that advance body mechanics, strength and speed- all of which have been proven to be effective.

Fitness in many facets has been a life long passion of Mike Saffaie.

It’s in his DNA and when you look at the physique of this life time athlete who is an ALL natural, IFBB PRO + PNBA competitor, it’s hard to disagree. Like his training skills, his abs have legitimately won their own awards too. No joke.

He’s been training Brasilian JiuJitsu for over 13 years and officially received his Black Belt under Ryron + Rener Gracie out of Gracie University in Torrance California.

Above all of those amazing accomplishments and high honors, what I am MOST proud of is that fact that I get to call Mike Saffaie MY brother.

Most know my brother for his passion for fitness + movement, his physical talents, competitive wins and his career status but the deeper you get to know Mike, you quickly learn he equally loves using his mind through philosophy, intellectual arguments/debates, critical thinking and logical reasoning.

He completely CRUSHES the usual perception of the “gym guy with muscles” who would prefer to listen to an intellectual argument on Free Will vs watch Sunday night football.

Aside from his love for body + mind, Mike is known as one of the realist + kindest guys around.

As his sister, one year apart in age (he’s my baby brother hehe) I can honestly say, he’s one of the most curious humans I’ve ever met, what you see is what you get with my brother: i.e. he’s as real as it gets and he has the biggest heart that is fiercely loyal that which he loves.

49. SOLOSODE: TIPS ON HOW TO LIVE "AGELESSLY" + FEEL AGELESS.

The concept of aging as we know it is OLD.

I firmly believe the mindset behind “aging” needs to be revamped because it is NOT the only way to live out our increasing chronological years anymore + in the latest BlackBeltBeauty Episode, I’m tearing into the NEW model of aging, offering tips on how we can live expressing ourselves “agelessly” from body to spirit for the majority of our lives.

This episode was actually inspired by the recent Instagram Challenge that’s been going around massively called the #10yearchallenge - A challenge that reveals how you’ve aged in the past 10 years.

There’s no denying that we all age + will eventually depart from our living Being but we are now living in a time where we can CHOOSE how we want to age by way our daily choices that make up our lifestyle.

We have the option of how we age ourselves:

Fast + hard by promoting the body + spirit to deteriorate in the early decades of life.

or

We can extend our healthspan + carry a youthful, almost “ageless” appearance that stems from having a “younger” biological clock that beats our chronological years, paired with a SPIRIT that exudes that one of who does not get “old.”

Personally, I love that we own the CHOICE of how we wish to age ourselves by way of actions and I absolutely LOVE living lifestyle that allows me the dismiss the OLD model of aging + truly feel AGELESS as I live my days out with all of my heart.

I hope this episode offers inspiration with lifestyle/mindset tips that resonate that will support you to start or to continue doing, the same in yours.

38. Michelle Waterson: Listening to your inner voice, embracing adversity, going for your dreams.

UFC fighter Michelle Waterson is living her dream out. She’s currently ranked #7 in the Strawweight division with a recent win on the biggest fight card in the UFC’s history, #UFC229.

Her post fight talk with Joe Rogan left all who listened in, moved as she told him":

“I want to be the first UFC champ that’s a mom!”

And here’s the thing; Michelle Waterson has EVERYTHING it takes to actualize that vision.

Her mental framework is as powerful as her karate kicks.

She has the heart of a champion- a woman that makes NO excuses, chooses to continue learning and growing herself into her best self by embracing the challenges that arrive on her unpaved path towards her desired victories.

Dana Claudat is a modern Feng Shui master, a Stanford- educated art historian with a serious passion for Modern & Contemporary art. To put it simply: Curating is in her DNA.  

I felt an alignment to Dana's incredible energy upon discovering her radiant, always positive INSTAGRAM PROFILE  and her renowned blog, THE TAO OF DANA  but I after having this ELEVATING conversation with this talented, inspiring woman, I can honestly say that I LOVE Dana's mental framework and what she puts out into this world through her original approach to Feng Shui . 

Here's my favorite part: She's the REAL thing.  A pragmatic creative who originates from Jersey and keeps the essence of that realness alive in her approach to Feng Shui. She is woman who does NOT believe in luck or limitations, which immediately makes her principles and practice of Feng Shui SO unique.  A definite deviation from the majority of Feng Shui practices out there. A Feng Shui Maverick if you will and a total a path CREATOR- both making her my kind of girl.

27: SOLOSODE: Living through the "messy" on the road to success- SHAMELESSLY.

It's not easy to live through the challenges that arise on our paths to GOING FOR IT in our lives. Putting ourselves "out there" in the world and especially in ways that require a lot of "learning as you go" can be straight up scary and offer some "messy" moments in the process. It most definitely can make even some of the most confident of people generate insecure moments in the process but living through them is truly is the ONLY way to grow, create and ultimately allow us to accomplish what we're aiming for on the other end of them. 

This Solosode is all about a personal moment experiencing some emotions of raw and very real Insecurity. It was so powerful until I realized exactly what was happening by OBSERVING mySelf and stopped JUDGING mySelf.  Once I came to that understanding, I was able to push past my insecure emotions with a conquered state of mind that reminded me of this TRUTH:

THIS IS JUST A PART OF THE PROCESS + THERES NO WAY AROUND IT TO CREATE WHAT YOU DESIRE. Personally, its the road I WANT to take albeit challenging. I want NO short cuts or hand outs because I value my process as a HUGE part of the reward in all that I am creating.

Being real with ourselves while honoring our Process is one of the greatest tools that supports both internal + external success in life.  Sometimes the path to advancing confidence is by feeling INSECURE. I love clever irony. 

My intention behind creating this bite size episode is to support your process of GOING FOR IT by keeping it SO real with you all and putting moments of my creative process like this out there for you while still IN the process of growing this all where I envision it to go- shamelessly. Not waiting to expose this when Im clear + "safe" at the point of accomplishing my vision of success.  My hope is that it inspires you to to that "thing" you've been wanting to do but have felt insecure about trying or reaching for because you don't want to fail, be denied or get embarrassed along the way.

We only learn what we are capable of when we are put in uncomfortable scenarios and discover who we are within the process of getting through them.  

Forget "perfect" - there's no such thing on the road to real success; "messy" is bound to happen + there is VALUE in living through the discomfort of those moments when they show up.

One of my favorite quotes EVER sums it up perfectly:

"IF YOU STUMBLE, MAKE IT PART OF THE DANCE" 

My edit is "WHEN" vs IF because it is a GIVEN that you will. 

Be PROUD that you're putting effort (or soon will be) towards something you desire, believe in and care about, whatever that might for you. 

There's so much power in owning and appreciating your efforts.

22: INSTASODE: SUCCESS IN MOTION

This Instasode was inspired from this recent BlackBeltBeauty Instagram post about honoring your efforts with support on the days when your "best" was showing up and trying.

It's easy to dismiss those efforts because they did not produce outstanding outcomes or perhaps did not give you the exact outcome that you envisioned but those efforts are just as important as the "home run" days because they are literally the "threads that pull the entire look together" by way of CONSISTENCY.

I dig deeper into the concept of supporting yourself on those days and the powerful energy it will support you back with as a result.  

I hope this Instasode drops into your life at the perfect time to remind you to stay on your team by encouraging and acknowledging all of your efforts regardless of how much more you want to produce and gain. We always want more. How we feel on the way to generating  "More" for our lives is of equal importance as gaining it when you believe that the journey IS the reward.

There’s some days when I enter training feeling low in energy or straight up unmotivated. But regardless of how I feel stepping into it, I know that while it’s going down Im going to ask myself to give it my best effort- no matter what.

.

And here’s the thing: 

this idea of “best” is not a straight line, it’s not static- it, like me, is constantly shifting its state. Some days my best is fucking powerful, it produces an amazing feeling + results. And then there’s those other days when my best is simply great effort that gets me through the motions + is an act of consistency. .

Honoring the daily shift not just in your physical performance but in any + ALL aspects in your life where performance is required of you, is such a crucial tool to advance your best. 

I don’t think there is ANY stronger form of a resistance that can act as a road block to growing our best selves + lives than that which we can mentally place upon ourselves. .

Being on YOUR team means backing yourself up with encouragement. It means honoring the moving waves we ride in all areas of our lives WITHOUT being judgmental on ourselves in the process.

I LOVE to challenge myself + excuses are actions I choose not to allow in my life on any front.  Ever.

But that’s even more reason why I know it’s so important to respect the days where showing up is the best I got to give that day. Understanding  it’s a temporary moment + not a dictator of my ultimate “success” It breathes space in my mind so that I can ask myself to keep reaching for better. And for me personally, it’s that continual reach that IS real success. 

Never giving up. 

Backing down. 

Never settling. .

The TAKEAWAY:

Respecting the days that are messy or tired in any area of life by not being hard on yourself for it, is like a fucking magic trick that doesn’t allow those days to STICK to you, to slow you down + get in the way to whatever it is you aim to accomplish. 

No, instead when you show yourself support by honoring those days but not allowing them to define you, you are LITERALLY WINNING all the way to accomplishing what you’re aiming for.

It’s what I call:

SUCCESS IN MOTION👊
