The change of seasons can inspire a desire to switch things up with our color palettes both in clothes and makeup. Moody, luxe colors feel like the perfect fit for Fall and look absolutely stunning on. To gain some ideas on how to incorporate Fall makeup looks into your beauty game, I asked Pro makeup artist, Courtney Hagen to share some of the seasons coolest trends, that are easy to create and universally flattering on all skin tones.
1. Warm-toned Eyeshadow:
Fall is the perfect time to get your beautiful rust, bronze, chocolate and copper eyeshadows out and start playing. These warm shades look beautiful on all skin tones and play perfectly together so blend several colors to create a gorgeous look that is both subtle and statement worthy. Some of my favorite warm toned palettes are Tarte’s Tartelette In Bloom Amazonian Clay Palette and Sigma’s Warm Neutrals Palette.
2. Fresh, Natural Looking Skin:
If the fall runways proved anything, it’s that fresh, natural skin is IN. Gone are the over-highlighted, super dewy looks of summer. No more crazy contouring (YAY). Let skin look like skin by using a lightweight foundation or tinted moisturizer and a hint of concealer to hide those problem areas. Lightly dust powder down the center of your face- the key is not to over-mattify either, just let the skin glow how it normally would. Some of my favorite lightweight foundations are Koh Gen Do’s Aqua Foundation and Honest Beauty’s Everything Tinted Moisturizer which has the added benefit of SPF. I love my Nars’ Radiant Creamy Concealers for under eye circles and blemishes and their Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder is perfect to eliminate shine while still allowing your natural glow to come through.
3. Flushed Cheeks:
Finish the look with a hint of gorgeous pink or peach blush to give the skin a naturally flushed appearance. It will mimic the look of that fall breeze when it hits your face. Both powder and cream blushes work beautifully. Honest Beauty carries some of my favorite Creme Blushes and Tarte’s Amazonian Clay blushes are the best- Dazzled and Peaceful are my go-to’s!
4. Full, Natural Brows:
Those effortless, full brows aren’t going anywhere. So put down your tweezers or heavy brow pomades and just stick to a soft brow gel to brush brows upward to keep them in place. If you have sparse areas that need filling in, grab a pencil like Anastasia’s Brow Wiz Pencil and use light strokes that mimic tiny hairs. Use a spooley to blend it together so it doesn’t look too drawn in.
5. Vamp Lips:
Dark lips dominated the runways this season with fearless shades of black and burgundy. The textures varied from matte to full on glossy. This look is surprisingly chic and sophisticated but gives you that punk edge you’re looking for. Try a lip pencil like ColourPop’s Dukes for a beautiful matte blackberry shade and top with gloss for a more lacquered look. For a truly bold statement, use ColourPop’s Bull Chic pencil for that perfect matte black lip, you are sure to turn heads.
